On Valentine's Day, the US media danced around "rumors" that Russia "may" invade Ukraine on Wednesday, February 16. But, the US State Department has closed its embassy in Kiev, Ukraine moving some of its staff further west within the country, and advised "any remaining U.S. citizens in Ukraine to leave the country immediately."
The above data was buried within the last paragraph of The Washington Examiner's piece, "Ukraine rattles world with national 'Day of Unity' on date Russia may invade." Instead, the article's angle was how Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "sparked confusion and spooked global stock markets" by declaring a nationwide public display of Ukrainian patriotism on the 16th.
That's right, the Ukrainian president asked his citizens to please raise their flags and "wear blue and yellow ribbons." The media seem to depict this man as reckless by "spook[ing] global stock markets." But, why didn't the article read "US rattles world with Kiev embassy evacuation"?
